STOKER'S MART
2018 Final Project of YZU Department of Information Communication
The Motivation of Filmmaking
People nowadays live in a high-pressure society, they always seek something happy, easy or funny, seeing it like the fun of life or the motivation for work. That is the main reason why we hope we can tell the story with a fun atmosphere, and make it a relaxing film. We decided to make the two main characters teenagers, who can prank each other without thinking. Being teenagers, they have immature personalities which might remind audiences that they were once happy-go-lucky as are the two characters. The goal of this film is not only to make people laugh, but also make them feel energetic and hopeful about their lives again.
The Story of Stoker's Mart
In the middle of the night, a red pickup truck is driving fast on the freeway with a young couple sitting in the car. The boy driving the car is named Hehe and the girl sitting next to him is Mimi. Halfway on their trip, Mimi suddenly becomes hungry. She realizes that there is a snack in the glove compartment. She opens it up, pulls out the snack and starts to eat it. The snack is Hehe’s favorite, he becomes hungry as soon as Mimi begins eating it. Mimi teases Hehe by pretending to feed the snack to him, but suddenly she puts the chocolate bar into her mouth as soon as Hehe opens his mouth. Hehe becomes mad and slams on the brakes which makes the rest of the snack spill out from Mimi’s hand onto the floor of the car. After Hehe restarts the engine he heads to the closest convenience store. Mimi follows him quickly. However, none of they know what will happen next…
Hehe makes a sudden turn and pulls the car into the parking lot of a convenience store. He rushes angrily through the door and finds the chocolate snacks right away after he looks around the store. Hehe picks up one snack and kisses it. He notices that Mimi is going to enter the store. He hides behind the shelf without thinking, observing his girlfriend, holding his breath. At this moment, one thought flashes through Hehe’s mind—he is going to take revenge on her for spilling the chocolate snack.
Once Mimi comes into the store, she realizes the interior is very dark. Her hearing becomes more sensitive. Hehe uses the lights and the sounds of products crashing to the floor to scare her. Mimi’s anxiety is increasing as she looks around the empty convenience store. By the time she is about to start crying, Mimi hears the voice of her boyfriend. She rushes toward the voice feeling relieved. Mimi does not meet her boyfriend however. When she gets to where she thinks her boyfriend is, the lights start blinking, and some weird sounds are coming from the counter. Mimi steps back afraid. All of a sudden someone taps her on the shoulder. She turns her head slowly, it is a terrifying face of a ghost! Mimi can not help but scream out loud, and then she passes out. The ghost face that Mimi saw was simply the illusion of Mimi seeing a cardboard cutout. The reason why the cutout moved was all because of Hehe.
Hehe looks at his girlfriend passed, feels a sense of satisfaction, and can’t help but giggle. All of a sudden, he feels something strange tap his right shoulder. Hehe turns his head and finds a real ghost hand on his shoulder! He gasps in shock, rolls his eyes, and passes out too, leaving only the creepy ghost hand.
